Sadly I have found that not many of my Facebook followers have continued to follow me since I started my Blog on noladwrites.com. The number of people has dwindled and it is disappointing.
But one thing that I am very good at is perseverance. I will just have to keep on trying to encourage you to click on my link below the photograph after I post an article, and hopefully you will once again enjoy my efforts and follow, like and share it amongst your friends.
The new blog is different from what I had on Facebook insofar as all the posts are available to read without having to scroll through all the messages. The second interesting part is that there is a section at the top of the blog which has the following options:
Home = this being the page that shows the current blog,
Articles = all the previous blogs,
Previous Publications = which have a few of my stories that were published by Fairlady, as well as a little self published book called, On Top and Under the Ground.
This was written for my four grandchildren when they were still very young and it is one of my favourite publications. It is illustrated and the way it is shown on the Blog is so well done. I am sure it will bring a smile to your face.
About me = a short synopsis on who I am and what I love doing.
I would really like to hear your comments on what you think of my web page and set up, and if there are any improvements that you might like to see added to it.
I had an invitation to lunch at Brett and Amor’s today, and as the orthotic man is in Hillcrest, I took the opportunity to call in to take the innersoles back to him. They are unable to be used.
He tried to do a little adjustment to them, but by the time I got to Bretts, I had to remove them from the shoe. A total waste of money.
What a delight it was to be with the family again. They are still working so hard on their property and the improvements are amazing.
My grand children are all grown up now and out of the country, but today I was introduced to a whole new family. They are the live stock that are now permanently living on the little farm. The original two sheep had their first offspring at the beginning of the year, and the ewe is heavily pregnant again. They are a delight to see.
Next came the Goat, named Bok. He is the friendliest and comes up to one for scratches and petting. Three days ago, Vark arrived. He is a pig who is still fairly small and timid, but by all accounts, his mother was a HUGE sow. So it will be interesting to see how big he gets!
After spending quality time with these two amazing people, I said goodbye to make my way home. The journey was uneventful, right up until I arrived at our block of flats.
On the opposite side of the road, on the corner, where we have our two motorised gates, was a police van with three policemen standing next to it. On the pavement, just before Gate 1, were 4 African Ladies sitting very quietly on the pavement.
The road was partially cordoned off and I had to squeeze past the cones and down the road to Gate 2 which is my entrance.
Petros met me in my garage and I was very excited to show him the plants which I had been given by Amor. A Bay Leaf tree, a blood red Frangipani, an indigenous Ginger shrub and a lovely pink flowering Hibiscus plant.
He appeared to be very subdued and it didn’t take him long to fill me in on what the police van was doing at our gates.
He was outside working when he was alerted to a youngish man walking up Gordon Road. No more than 29 years old he thought. As he got to the first gate he coughed up blood and was obviously in distress.
He managed to walk another few meters and then more blood… a couple more steps and he died, there, in the gutter, on the side of the road.
Petros managed to find something to cover his body. He then found one of the pedestrians walking by who just fortuitously knew the family of this poor man, and was sent to call them from their home. These were the ladies I met and spoke to.
They were sitting next to the body, waiting for the mortuary van to arrive.
They knew that the son was very ill and he was actually on his way to the clinic when he died.
Oh how my heart ached for them all. The mother was inconsolable and I was spoken to by his sister.
Approximately two hours after he died, someone arrived with a bakkie and he was taken away. From what the family said, I think he had TB and was not treated for it.
What a very sad ending to such a perfect day.
Blessings and love 💕
